Our farm is one of the first three
original breeding farms in the United States dedicated to the
Gypsy Horses.
EMERALD WINDS FARM
To this day we work personally and directly with the travellers
in many different nations and have established excellent ongoing
breeder relationships in several nations of Europe.
We have quietly built an extreme high quality herd here in
the states and are in 2004 looking forward to our fifth USA
foal crop. At Emerald Winds Farm we breed for conformation
first and foremost as without it, all the feather in the world
is not a substitute. Remember that this is still a breed of
horse, you want the very best conformation you can find. In
addition we strive to breed for excellent temperament, bone,
feather and the famous "gypsy horse action" that we all love
to see. Travellers will tell you, they covet excellent movers!
Every foal born here has been a minimum of 50% color! We have
proven producers and we are extremely proud to stand an outstanding
group of Gypsy Stallions including European Champions!! This
is a fabulously versatile breed and truly do everything from
riding and driving to dressage, jumping, and endurance! Gypsy
horses were bred to be compact athletic gentle powerhouses
and they totally meet the requirement! We concentrate on breeding
athletes here at Emerald Winds.
TRAINING AT EMERALD WINDS FARM - ALL
BREEDS
Bill Bohl has honored us by joining our farm as head trainer.
Mr. Bohl has a National reputation in breeding, training,
showing, winning on every level including National and International
titles, and judging multiple breeds. Bill is helping us to
introduce the Gypsy Horse Breed to the USA.
We ride and drive every day. We have 105 acres of groomed
trails and are adjacent to Salmon River State Forest with
thousands of acres available to ride and excellent trail systems
in place.
JOIN A GOOD DEMOCRATIC BREED ASSOCIATION
The USA is well behind Europeans in knowing the extent of
the athleticism of this breed. They are heavily shown in all
nations of Europe in many divisions and clean up in the show
ring. If you are lucky enough to own a Gypsy Horse or Pony,
we highly encourage you to begin working them in schooling
and getting them out showing even if our only USA current
venues are limited. Go to Open Shows. Go to your Local, County,
and State Fair with your Gypsy horse. Invite your local riding
groups to come and meet your horse. As the breed grows we
will begin to see the development of a show system in the
USA. Most of all, enjoy and love your horse! That is what
horse ownership is all about!
GYPSY COB BREED
ASSOCIATIONS
Emerald Winds Farm is proud to be a Founding Lifetime Member
of the Gypsy Cob Society of America "GCSA" and also a proud
member of the Gypsy Cob and Drum Horse Association "GCDHA".
We encourage all gypsy horse owners to join with these wonderful
and democratic breed clubs and registries. With full support
in the USA the Gypsy Cob breed will begin to move forward
in all directions. We need your support for this breed.
Even if you are just someone that would like to learn more
about the breed we encourage you to JOIN AS A MEMBER NOW!!
